2021 Waste calendars issued

Dudley Council is delivering waste collection calendars to all borough households for 2021.

Collection days remain the same for 2021, with calendars designed to remind people when to place their waste out for collection.

The calendars cover collection details for grey bins (non-recyclable waste), green bins (garden waste) and recycling containers.

Households are asked to ensure containers are ready for collection for 6.15am on their collection day at the edge of their property or driveway. Containers can be placed outside from 7.30pm on the night before collection day.

Residents are reminded that collection times may vary from week to week, but if items haven’t been collected by 3pm on collection day missed collections can be reported to Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345.

People are asked to use their black box for glass bottles and jars only, blue bags for paper, card and cardboard only and green bags for plastic bottles, plastic food containers, aerosols, food tins and cans only.

Dudley Council has announced that it is now accepting all plastic bottles and food containers and trays in the green bags, so long as it is labelled as resin code PET (1) or HDPE (2). Residents are asked to check packaging logos before recycling and if in doubt, leave it out.

Anyone who would like to receive additional green or blue sacks or black boxes to help increase their recycling efficiency should ring Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345. They are free to borough residents.

Residents are also reminded to wash hands before and after putting bins and containers out for collection as well as cleaning bin handles, bag handles and the sides of recycling boxes to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for public realm, said:

A big thank you goes out to our residents who have recycled more during this pandemic, helping to save our planet whilst increasing our recycling figures.
Our tonnages are up by around 15 per cent for recycling since March, including over 4,000 tonnes of paper - that’s the equivalent of a massive 70,000 trees saved.
The booklets contain useful information about what can be recycled, as well as the valuable calendar, so we advise all borough residents to keep it in a safe place.
