A wicket way to raise money for charity
Staff and elected members at Dudley Council will be stumping up cash for the Mayor’s charities at their annual cricket match later this month.
A team of council officers will be taking on councillors on 17 July 2026 in a 20-overs-per-side match.
The players will be taking to the field at Stourbridge Cricket Club’s Memorial Ground in Amblecote from 6pm.
There will also be a raffle as the teams try to raise as much money as they can for the Mayor of Dudley’s chosen charities. These are WeLoveCarers, Friends of Alfie Johnson, Stourbridge FC, Gig Caritas & Busking for Charity, The What? Centre, Stourbridge Glass Museum and Brierley Hill Baby Bank.
Councillor Pete Lowe, the Mayor of Dudley, said:
“The annual cricket match is a great opportunity to bring together councillors and council staff while raising money for some truly fantastic local causes.
“I am incredibly proud to be supporting seven charities during my mayoral year, all of which make a real difference to people and communities across the borough.
“Whether you’re taking part, buying a raffle ticket or simply coming along to watch, every contribution will help support these organisations and the valuable work they do. We’d love to see a good crowd on the night.”
