Award-winning carers recognised by Mayor of Dudley

The informal gathering brought together award recipients, family members, representatives from WeLoveCarers and invited guests to celebrate the achievements of unpaid carers and those who champion carers within their communities and workplaces. 

The annual WeLoveCarers Awards recognise individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, compassion and commitment to supporting carers and the people they care for. The awards were presented during Carers Week and highlight the important role unpaid carers play across Dudley borough. 

WeLoveCarers is a charity run by carers for carers, providing support, information and advice to unpaid carers and their families. The charity works to reduce isolation, empower carers and ensure their voices are heard. 

The contribution of professionals working across health, local authority and private sector organisations should also be recognised, particularly those who go above and beyond their day-to-day roles to support unpaid carers and their families.

Among those attending the Mayor's reception were winners of the Mayor's Award, Young Carer Award, Carers of the Year Award, Carers Champion Award, Community Carer Award, Workplace Champion Award and Special Recognition Award. 

Councillor Pete Lowe, Mayor of Dudley, said: 

"It was a privilege to welcome the WeLoveCarers Awards winners to the Mayor's Parlour and to personally congratulate them on their achievements. 
 
"Unpaid carers make an extraordinary contribution to our communities every day. Their compassion, commitment and selflessness often go unseen, yet they provide invaluable support to family members, friends and loved ones. 
 
"The award winners have demonstrated exceptional dedication, and it is only right that we take the opportunity to recognise and celebrate their efforts. On behalf of the borough, I would like to thank them all for the difference they make to the lives of others. They embody our bostin Dudley.”

"These awards celebrate the incredible commitment, resilience and kindness shown by carers and those who support them. We are delighted that the Mayor has taken the time to recognise our winners and the vital contribution they make across Dudley borough." 

WeLoveCarers estimates there are around 37,000 recognised unpaid carers in Dudley, although the true number is likely to be considerably higher.
