Baby Opera at Dudley library
English Touring Opera is heading to Dudley with a special opera written just for babies.
Under the Little Red Moon is a vibrant, colourful mash-up of animation, music and live action performance made especially little ones. It will be held at Dudley Library on Wednesday 1 November, 2pm.
Join Lulu, Monty and their friend Tom on a vibrant and colourful journey in English Touring Opera’s new opera for babies, Under the Little Red Moon. Made in consultation with paediatricians, Under the Little Red Moon explores the development of language with the help of music and movement, composed by Russell Hepplewhite. Suitable for ages 6-24 months admission is free.
Councillor Ian Bevan, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said:
“This is the second time we’ve had a baby opera performance at one of our libraries and we’re really lucky to be able to offer another performance to our families. It’s opera, but not as you know it and a colourful, fun and lively show perfect for little ones.”
Stephanie Rhoden, Better partnership manager for Dudley Libraries said:
“This is a really fun introduction to opera. The whole performance is so bright and colourful and has been specifically designed to appeal to little ones. We hope to welcome lots of parents and their under 2s to the show.”
The team partnered with National Literacy Trust to create free resources to support parent and child interaction with the story. These can be found here: https://wordsforlife.org.uk/activities/opera-for-babies/
