Black Country Festival: Celebrate who we are and where we come from

The Mayor of Dudley has called on residents to celebrate who they are and where they come from as the Black Country Festival kicks into gear this weekend.

The festival runs throughout July and is this year celebrating its eleventh anniversary.

Black Country comic and social media sensation Jonny Cole is performing to a full house at Dudley Town Hall on Friday night.

But that is just the start of a packed weekend of events.

Halesowen Carnival and Netherton Park Funday take place on Saturday, and Stourbridge Carnival on Sunday.

The following weekend, The Black Country Music Festival takes place in the courtyard at Himley Hall & Park on Saturday July 12, with a family fun day at Stevens Park in Quarry Bank on Sunday July 13.

Councillor Pete Lee, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

“The Black Country Festival is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate who we are and where we come from.

“I’m a proud Black Country mon myself, so I’m looking forward to attending as many of the events as I can and joining the celebrations.

“There is loads on throughout July and many of the events will be free of charge to attend, helping more people to join in with the fun.

“I hope that our borough residents will continue to show the fantastic support that has allowed the festival to reach its eleventh year.”
