Council house lit up with Black Country flag

Black Country flag display on town hall

A huge image of the Black Country flag will be beamed onto the walls of Dudley Town Hall tonight (Weds) to mark Black Country Day.

The St James’s Road venue will be lit up in the distinctive red, white and black.

It will round off a day of celebrations throughout the day including events in Halesowen including displays from music and dance groups, food and a giant deck chair.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member responsible for halls, said:
It is a fantastic gesture to be able to light up this landmark building to mark the close of Black Country Day.
This is now an iconic flag and one which reminds us that there is a lot to be proud of in the Black Country.
As the historic capital of the Black Country, we want to do everything we can to mark this special day, and hopefully next year, when restrictions are fully lifted, we will be able to do a lot more.
