Dudley Christmas event 2023

Borough is feeling festive

It’s feeling festive in Dudley borough tonight (November 25) as Christmas lights are on in two town centres.

Families turned out in their hundreds to attend the festive events, organised by Dudley Council, held in Dudley and Stourbridge.

In Dudley, people enjoyed live performances and a free pantomime along with street entertainment and a children’s fun fair before the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Andrea Goddard, was joined on stage by Mr Grinch to turn on the lights.

In Stourbridge it was the turn of Elf and the Deputy of Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Pete Lee, to bring the festive cheer to the hundreds of people gathered.  It was the finale to a day full of entertainment, including live performances, street entertainers, a Christmas market, craft sessions, free pantomime and more.

Brierley Hill and Halesowen Christmas lights were turned on last week.

Councillor Andrea Goddard, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

The festive season is getting in full swing with the lights now switched on in four of our town centres.

It’s been great to see so many people enjoying the festive fun and I hope they’ve been able to support some of our local businesses while in the town centres.

The Sedgley Christmas lights switch on event will be held tomorrow (November 26) from 4 to 7pm.

Black Country Radio supported both events with music and entertainment.

The events were sponsored by Copthorne Hotel, Brierley Hill and Jewson.

Community led events are also being held in the borough, including in Coseley last Friday (November 17) and in Cradley tomorrow (November 26), then Wordsley on December 2, and Kingswinford on December 3.
