Building control remains operational

The construction industry is being supported by Dudley Council throughout the coronavirus pandemic as the authority continues to run its vital safety service for building projects.

Following government advice to the construction industry, Dudley Building Control continues to offer as full a service as possible to customers.

Although a majority of construction projects are on hold, by using a full range of working practices the service is still able to receive and register applications for building regs and assess whether existing projects are compliant.

The service is carrying out limited site inspections as long as staff can carry out assessments safely outside and social distancing guidelines can be adhered to.

The service is also available to offer support and guidance to anyone with any issues or concerns.

Councillor Ian Kettle, Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Enterprise said:

“We realise that for many people involved in construction projects, whether as contractors, agents or clients, that these are difficult, challenging and uncertain times but we wish to reassure them that officers are still available to offer advice and guidance, and we thank you for your continuing support and understanding during this period.”
