Business supports vulnerable residents
A local business has been volunteering its time to help deliver essentials to vulnerable residents.
One4YouLtd local transport business started supporting the council’s public health team over Christmas to help get emergency food parcels out to vulnerable residents and people who had tested positive for COVID who were unable to leave the house.
While the council has continued to use them for essential deliveries providing food parcels to those in need, One4You has asked for their recent trips to be taken as donation in kind. They have made 25 trips, making multiple drop-offs each time, benefitting hundreds of residents.
One4You has continued to support residents as part of its charitable outlook, donating £500 to the Unicorn Centre in November 2020 and £1000 to the Crystal Gateway, a day centre for people living with dementia in August 2020.
Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and social care, said:
This is another generous donation from One4YouLtd benefiting the residents of the borough.
We’ve worked with them as a transport provider for some time now, but this delivery element is new and for them to donate their time as an in-kind donation is particularly generous and beneficial.
People who are in need of practical support like this should call the COVID Support Line on 0300 3302 152 which is available from Monday to Friday from 9.30am-12.30pm.
Abrar Ahmed from ONE4YOU Services LTD, said:
It’s really important to us to give back to our community. We enjoy our work transporting people to facilities like The Crystal Gateway and The Unicorn Centre, and building those relationships. It’s been really rewarding for our drivers to do these deliveries and make these essential deliveries and be able to have a bit of a socially distanced chat on the doorstep too so people feel more connected.
The team also recently donated £350 to CHADD to support those suffering domestic abuse and victims of domestic violence., bringing the total they have donated to organisations during the pandemic to £2,500.
