Nigel Pugh from SWG Construction ahead of Armed Forces Day

Calling armed forces veterans 2023

Veterans are being urged to come forward and have special badges and medals presented by the Mayor of Dudley at this year’s Armed Forces Day event.

The free event, run by Dudley Council takes places on Sunday 25 June in the prestigious grounds of Himley Hall and Park.

It will run from 11am to 5pm and includes a wing walking aerobatic display, All About Swing dance taster sessions, a craft fair, vintage fairground rides and much more.

One of the highlights of the free day out will be when the Mayor of Dudley presents former and current armed forces personnel with their HM Armed Forces Badges.

People are being urged to come forward to register their interest to be presented with their badge, so they can be added to the running order for the day.

The event is supported by Black Country Safety Inspections, SWG Construction and SF Harrison Roofing.

Councillor Andrea Goddard, Mayor of Dudley, said:

It’s important we take time to honour and reflect on the efforts and sacrifice of men and women who have served or continue to serve in our armed forces.
Our Armed Forces Day gives us the opportunity to do just that, as well as find out more about the work of the services and enjoy some nostalgic entertainment.
It will be a privilege to attend as Mayor this year and I look forward to presenting badges and medals to personnel.
Hollie Cullen, Managing Director at Black Country Safety Inspections, said:

'Armed Forces Day is an important occasion that allows us to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the brave men and women who serve or have served in our Forces. This day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices and dedication shown by our Armed Forces and their families.
It is also an opportunity for us to come together as a community and honour those who have selflessly committed themselves to defend our country.
We want to say thank you to all who have or are still serving in our great Armed Forces, with special thanks to their families and the continued support they give, to make our Armed Forces the best in the world. Arte et Marte.
