Children and families can enjoy a range of activities at Dudley borough leisure centres during the Christmas holiday.

Over the holidays, opening hours across the centres may differ. People can visit https://www.dbleisure.co.uk/openinghours for more information.

Duncan Edwards, Crystal and Halesowen leisure centres are offering sessions including free swimming, family disability swims, under 5s splash sessions and soft play. £1 football sessions are also available at The Dell Stadium.

All Dudley borough residents aged 16 and under can enjoy free swimming at the three leisure centres from 21 December to 5 January. For terms and conditions, opening times and to register (which must be done in advance of a visit), people can go to www.freeswimindudley.co.uk

Crystal will offer the DJ led ‘Waikiki Waves’ water disco in the leisure pool on Friday 20 December and 3 January from 6pm to 8pm. The activity is exclusively for families and bodyboards and beachballs can be brought into the session. Alternatively, these can be purchased from reception. There is no session available on Friday 27 December due to the early bank holiday closure.

Under 5s Splash Time sessions take place in Halesowen’s learner pool every Friday from 9.30am to 11.30am and will run on 20 and 27 December and 3 January.

At the Dell Stadium, children aged eight and over can enjoy daily kickabouts on the 3G football pitch for £1 per session, or £2 for over 16s. Sessions take place on 23, 27, 30 and 31 December and 2 and 3 January and run from 9.30am to 12pm and 12.30 to 4pm. Appropriate football boots must be worn, and youngsters are asked to bring their own football.

The Planet Play areas at Duncan Edwards and Halesowen will offer soft play for children up to the age of 11 years. SEN sessions for children with disabilities, ASD and special educational needs will take place at Halesowen Leisure Centre on Monday 23 and 30 December. Crystal’s soft play facility which is suitable for children aged seven and under will be closed during the festive period, with the exception of Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January. It will re-open as normal on Monday 6 January.

Table-tennis and badminton are available at Duncan Edwards and Crystal throughout the holidays for children aged eight years and above, with equipment available to hire. Children can also enjoy pickleball at Crystal with details online.

Councillor Phil Atkins, cabinet member for commercial, said:

“We know it’s important for children and families to stay active during the school holidays and we are pleased to be offering activities in our centres over the Christmas break.

“The free-swimming sessions can be very busy, so we are reminding parents and carers that these are operated on a first come first served basis.”

All sessions and activities are subject to availability and terms and conditions apply, with a responsible adult expected to accompany children on many activities.

Parents are advised to check out the latest information online before making their visit at www.dbleisure.co.uk/school-holiday-activities
