Closure order served on council tenant
A Dudley Council tenant has been ordered to leave his home after serious complaints of anti-social behaviour.
Dudley Council and West Midlands Police received numerous complaints about a council property on Pale Street, Upper Gornal, Dudley.
The tenant and his visitors had been causing fear and intimidation to local residents and the community for a number of weeks.
Residents witnessed high volumes of visitors to the location, who have been congregating in communal areas, fighting and smoking drugs.
The council and police worked together to submit an application to Walsall Magistrates Court for an ASB Closure Order, this was granted and executed at the address on February 7 2022.
This means the property will be closed to all access for three months and the tenant, is unable to live there during this period.
Councillor Laura Taylor-Childs, cabinet member for housing and community services, said:
“This is another fantastic result for us through the courts and I hope this closure order will give residents in the area some much-needed respite from the misery this tenant and his associates was causing.
“Working with the police, we will not hesitate to take action against this kind of behaviour, it will not be tolerated in our properties and our borough. We’ll now look to take the necessary tenant enforcement action”
