Commonwealth Games mascot Perry meets borough pupils
The mascot for this summer’s Birmingham Commonwealth Games visited a borough primary school to meet excited youngsters.
Perry paid a visit to Blanford Mere Primary as part of a whistle-stop tour of schools around the country in the lead up to the 2022 Games.
Year 5 and 6 children at the Kingswinford school took part in an assembly hosted by Perry and a Commonwealth Games representative where they were told lots of information about the upcoming summer extravaganza.
Perry, a bull covered with multi-coloured hexagons, also walked around the school in Mimosa Walk meeting other pupils.
Kelly Grandison, Commonwealth Games project manager for Dudley Council, said:
The visit from Perry to Blanford Mere was one of 12 we have been able to secure for borough schools in the run-up to the Games.
He has been welcomed with open arms at every one – the children absolutely love him and it has really got them excited and looking forward to the summer Games.
Perry is named after Perry Barr, the area of Birmingham where the Alexander Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies for the Games and all the athletics events.
