Community reuse and recycling event

Dudley residents who have unwanted items that are too good to throw away can gift them to a community sharing scheme.

Dudley Council is holding one of its ‘Too Good to Throw Away’ events at Upper Gornal Pentecostal Church on Tuesday 12 August.

People visiting the Eve Lane Church will be able to donate household items that are in good working order between 10am and 2pm

Items accepted include curtains, bedding, cushions, kitchenware, small electricals, clothes, food and unused toiletries.

Anything collected will be shared between charitable organisations in the borough, including Provision House, which repurposes them for community use.

Councillor Andrea Goddard, cabinet member for public health, said:

“Passing items on to be repurposed is a great way to reduce your impact on the environment.

“It can also help others in the local community, and that’s why we have the ‘Too Good to Throw Away’ scheme.

“Our events have been hugely successful, and we are excited to be continuing with them with this one in Upper Gornal.”

Residents are politely reminded that the scheme is not requesting furniture, soft furniture or white goods.

People can find out more, and see a full list of wanted items online.
