Council launches new system for adult social care

Residents in Dudley borough are set to benefit from a new online portal for adult social care, which has gone live today (15 December).

The portal will offer a new and secure way for residents, carers, partners and professionals to interact online.

From today, people can use the portal to get information and advice on adult social care, look for support activities in the area they live and find out if they would need to contribute financially to their care.

Once fully established, it will give residents and their carers greater flexibility in the way they access social care by being able to submit forms and assessments online if preferred.

People using the portal, will be invited to set up a personal account enabling them to tailor information to their needs and checking if they could be eligible for any additional help or support.

Professionals will also be able to submit referrals online and raise concerns.

Residents can continue to use the current ways of communicating with adult social care if they prefer.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:

We are very excited to be able to launch our new easy-to-use online portal for adult social care.
The system will give people easier access to information in a way that is tailored to their needs and, as it is available 24/7, they will be able to interact with it at a time to suit them.
This week we have gone live with phase one of the launch, which will include information signposting and financial assessment sections, other phases will roll out during the first half of 2022.
We know that some people are not online, and they can be reassured that we will continue to offer the existing methods of communication.

People can view and sign up to the new portal now.
