Council team wins national award for second year running

A Dudley Council team which manages land and property searches for people buying and selling homes has won a national award for the second year in a row.

The authority’s Local Land Charges team won the customer satisfaction award for local authority searches at the Land Data 2025 Excellence Awards.

The team of three – which won the same award in 2024 - manages thousands of searches each year and is an essential part of the home buying and selling process for residents.

It also made the shortlist for Local Authority Searches Team of the Year at the 2025 ceremony.

The national awards recognise the work and achievements of local land charges departments in England and Wales.

The customer satisfaction award covers local authorities in England and Wales and is voted on by conveyancers and solicitors who are asked to describe how a team goes above and beyond to turn around searches quickly, efficiently, accurately with a great attitude and providing excellent value for money.

The team at Dudley remains responsible for ongoing management of new data onto the register, ensuring the most accurate information available is accessible to conveyancers and home buyers.

Councillor Steve Clark, cabinet member for finance and legal services, said:

"We have a small but highly efficient team running this service for residents, and we are very proud as a council to have received this award again.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the officers who continue to go above and beyond in providing this important function for the council.”
