Council to capture what makes people proud

Dudley Council is talking to people across the borough as part of Black History Month.

The Black History Month sofa will be going on tour, visiting four locations in the borough on Wednesday 20 October.

Anyone who is Black and lives in, works in or visits the borough will be invited to sit on the sofa and consider what makes them proud, as part of a special commemorative video.

The video will then be released in November as celebration of African Caribbean voices in the borough.

Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:

Black History Month provides us with a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the strong and proud Black community here in Dudley borough.
I hope people will come and join us on the sofa and share their stories with us for the commemorative video, which we look forward to releasing next month.
The sofa will be at Red House Glass Cone in Stourbridge from 10 to 11am, Cornbow Shopping Centre in Halesowen from 12.30 to 1.30pm, Dudley Archives on Tipton Road in Dudley from 3 to 4pm and Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill from 5.30 to 6.30pm.
