Council to review community infrastructure proposals

More than 30 Dudley borough projects, including interpretation panels, planting schemes and improvements to town centres and parks, could get funding boosts next year.

Dudley Council has accumulated approximately £330,000 from its Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) to fund infrastructure, and a number of projects are being considered for 2025 funding.

Possible spend includes work to the Lye War Memorial, improvements to park play areas at Milking Bank, Sedgley Hall Park Farm and Spring Meadow and an interpretation panel at the Round Oak Memorial.

Other schemes in consideration include a planting scheme at the Red House Glass Cone, refurbishment of a former bowling green at Buffery Park and public realm improvements for Dudley town centre.

CIL is a financial levy on new development, which is then channelled into infrastructure projects that enable the council to invest money back into the borough.

Councillor Paul Bradley, deputy leader and cabinet member for economic regeneration, said:

“Fantastic work to modernise and create more inclusive play facilities at Wordsley Park was undertaken last winter, after £80k of CIL funding was allocated.

“We’re now delighted to be considering a wide range of new projects for investment through CIL in 2025, which will help to improve facilities for people in our borough.”

“Cabinet will review these when we meet, and then officers will assess projects to see which projects are most deliverable and will create the most positive impact for communities in the borough.”
