Council warns litter louts to think twice
Bosses at Dudley Council have issued a stark reminder to anyone considering fly tipping, after the local authority confirmed it issued two £1,000 fines in one week.
The council continues to clamp down on fly tipping and in May it issued the hefty penalty fine notices.
Officers used CCTV footage to catch and prosecute the two offenders, with one of the offenders dumping domestic waste and the other leaving sacks of business paperwork.
Although the incidents were not linked, both took place in the Shell Corner area of Halesowen and were reported to the council by concerned residents.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and enviornment, said:
“Cleaning up fly tipped mess costs the taxpayer a considerable amount of money, but we have shown time and time again that we will not hesitate to act against people who selfishly blight our streets with their rubbish.
“I am pleased these two individuals have realised the consequences of their actions, and I would like to thank the residents who reported these shocking incidents to us.”
