Councillor hoping to deliver a knockout for Mayor’s charities
A councillor is taking part in a charity boxing match to raise money for the Mayor of Dudley’s charities.
Councillor Shaz Saleem, who represents the Kingswinford North and Wall Heath ward, will be lacing up the gloves and getting into the ring on Saturday March 12.
The bout, one of several on the night, will take place at Kingswinford School. Councillor Saleem is raising money for Papyrus UK – a suicide prevention charity for young people – and the mayor’s charities. They include the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Dudley Mind.
Tickets priced between £25 and £40 are now on sale, with proceeds going to the charities.
Councillor Anne Millward, the Mayor of Dudley, said:
Councillor Saleem is certainly a lot braver than me!
In all seriousness I’m delighted he has chosen my charities as one of the main beneficiaries for this show.
I would urge people to support by buying tickets and going along to cheer him on.
