Countdown is on for annual armed forces event
There’s just over a week to go until the annual Armed Forces Day celebrations return to the grounds of Himley Hall and Park.
The free event, run by Dudley Council takes places on Sunday 25 June from 11am to 5pm.
The event includes a wing walking aerobatic display, All About Swing dance taster sessions, a craft fair and vintage fairground rides.
There are activities for all ages including a climbing wall, archery and punch & Judy.
There will be a vintage military vehicle display as well as military stands from the Army, RAF and sea cadets and reserve units including HMS Forward, the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and the Royal Artillery.
One of the highlights of the free day out will be when the Mayor of Dudley presents former and current armed forces personnel with their HM Armed Forces Badges.
The event is supported by Black Country Safety Inspections, SWG Construction and SF Harrison Roofing.
There will be free parking for the event.
Councillor Andrea Goddard, Mayor of Dudley, said:
This is a fantastic free day out for all the family, which has become a staple in our annual calendar of events.
I look forward to attending and I hope people enjoy the entertainment on offer, not least the wing walking aerobatic display.
The day is also about bringing communities together to find out more about the work of our armed forces and to honour those who have served or continue to serve.
I’d urge people to come along and join us for this memorable day.
Nigel Pugh, SWG contracts manager, said:
As recent members of the Mayoral Business Club in Dudley, we are delighted to be able support events like the Armed Forces Day celebrations.
We are sure it will be a memorable day, with a wide variety of entertainment on offer for all ages, and we are very pleased to be involved in such an important event for the community.
