Covid cases on the rise in Dudley borough
Covid case numbers are increasing in Dudley borough and people are being advised to take simple steps to keep everyone safe.
A total 2,385 new cases were reported in the last month – almost 3 times the number reported in the previous month (837).
People are being asked to take simple steps to keep people safe such as keeping away from vulnerable people if they have symptoms.
Vaccination is the best line of defence and first, second and booster doses are available to book.
Health experts advise people to continue good hygiene, such as washing hands and using hand sanitiser, covering the mouth and nose with your elbow when coughing or sneezing and cleaning surroundings.
People can also wear a face mask in crowded or enclosed areas, healthcare settings or when coming into contact with someone who has a high risk of becoming seriously unwell from Covid-19 or other illnesses.
Councillor Ian Bevan, cabinet member for public health, said:
While we are making great strides to getting back to normal, unfortunately cases of covid are still around. I would ask people to be vigilant and follow the advice to help keep people safe.
