Covid test site

Drive-in testing site relocated

The drive-in coronavirus testing centre In Brierley Hill is moving to a new location this weekend.

The mobile testing unit currently based on Engine Lane in Brierley Hill is used to test people who are showing symptoms of coronavirus.

From Saturday (May 1) it will be relocated to Dudley Council’s Saltwells Education Centre. The testing centre at Engine Lane will be operational until Friday April 30.

The mobile testing unit, which is drive-in only, will be located on the centre’s car park and signs will available to direct people.

The centre also offers rapid symptom-free testing, within the main building.

Karen Wright, director of public health at Dudley Council, said:

We’re pleased to support colleagues within NHS test and trace and accommodate the mobile testing centre at Saltwells.
It means we’ll have testing for people who are showing symptoms of coronavirus and those who are symptom-free in the same location but I can assure people both testing centres will be run in isolation and there will be absolutely no contact between the two.
Please continue to have twice weekly symptom-free tests or book yourself in for a standard coronavirus test if you are showing symptoms. We all must continue to play our part.

Testing for people with coronavirus symptoms is also available on foot in locations in Dudley, Lye and Stourbridge. Further details of testing locations can be found here - https://www.dudley.gov.uk/council-community/emergencies/coronavirus/coronavirus-testing/local-symptomatic-testing/

For more information on symptom free testing and where home testing kits are available go to www.dudley.gov.uk/symptom-free-testing. The symptom free testing site based at the Salvation Army Church in Lye is now closed.
