Dudley borough heads to the polls
People are being invited to “make their voices heard” by voting in the elections next month.
Residents in Dudley borough will be heading to the polls on May 6.
They will be voting in the local elections to elect local councillors as well as deciding the new Police and Crime Commissioner and West Midlands Mayor.
Poll cards have been issued across the borough and those who have elected for a postal or proxy vote will be sent everything they need.
People are also being asked to bring their own pencils when attending a polling station in order for them to fill in the ballot paper safely.
Kevin O’Keefe, Dudley Council Chief Executive and Electoral Returning Officer, said:
There are three elections taking place on the same day which gives people a very big opportunity to have their say in how council, the region and policing is run.
After a year off from elections because of the coronavirus restrictions, now is the time for people to make their voices heard as we start our recovery.
Safety precautions have been put into place ahead of the elections at local polling stations to ensure that they are all fully COVID-compliant, with voters being reminded to wear face coverings unless medically exempt.
As social distancing will be enforced at polling stations, voters might also need to queue outside during busy times.
Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm as normal on 6 May.
Counting for Dudley borough’s local elections will take place overnight on May 6 with the results published on the council’s website at www.dudley.gov.uk and on social media.
Counting for the West Midlands Mayoral and Police and Crime Commissioner elections will take place on Saturday 8 May. The overall combined results from the seven West Midlands metropolitan areas will be announced on Saturday 8 May at the Utilita Arena Birmingham (formerly the NIA).
