Dudley carers wellbeing week

People caring for a loved one or friend who live in Dudley borough are invited to take part in a series of events across the borough, designed to support their wellbeing.

Carers wellbeing week takes place from October 11 to 15 and is organised by Dudley Council’s carers hub in partnership with Crossroad Caring for Carers, Alzheimer’s Society, Mary Steven’s Hospice and Just Straight Talk.

During the week, carers are encouraged to take time out of their caring role and put their own wellbeing first.

Sessions will be held at Brett Young Day Centre on Monday and Friday, Mary Stevens Hospice on Monday and Thursday, Queens Cross Network on Tuesday and Nine Locks Community Centre on Wednesday.

Activities will include reflexology, yoga, therapeutic massages and cooking demonstrations.

Carers will be able to take the person they care for with them.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:

Carers are selfless people, who put the needs of those they care for first, often having little or no time to do the things they would like to do.
We value their dedication and commitment and want to provide opportunities to help them look after their own wellbeing.
I know carers work around the clock in many cases, but I hope they can take a little time for themselves to attend the sessions next week. We’d love to see them there.
