Dudley Council housing stock boosted by new Halesowen apartments

Dudley Council’s housing stock has been given a boost following the acquisition of eight new apartments on the site of former office buildings in Halesowen.

The development, which is located on the corner of Summer Hill and Powell Street and is due to complete in December 2026, has seen the transformation of a vacant brownfield site into modern council housing.

Dudley Council worked with Marsons Summerhill Development and Grove Properties Group to secure the two-bedroom apartments, which are located close to the town centre.

The development will provide new homes for council tenants and improves the appearance of a prominent site that had remained vacant for several years.

The local authority is committed to brownfield development and supports the authority’s regeneration work which is taking place across the borough.

Councillor Paul Bradley, deputy leader at Dudley Council, said:

"Increasing the supply of good-quality housing remains a key priority for the council.

"These new apartments are a welcome addition to the council's housing stock and demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved by bringing brownfield sites back into use.

“The vacant site has been transformed into high-quality homes for local people in a sustainable location close to shops, services and transport links.”

Dean Grove, owner of Grove Properties Group, said:

"We were pleased to act for Marsons Summerhill Development and to identify and present this opportunity to Dudley Council.

“It is particularly rewarding to see the site transformed from a long-disused office location into eight modern residential apartments, providing new homes and bringing the site back into productive use."

A spokesperson for Marsons Summerhill Development said:

"We are delighted to deliver the development of these eight two-bedroom apartments.

“The project has transformed a previously disused site and created high-quality new homes in a sustainable location close to Halesowen town centre. We are pleased with the development and the positive contribution it makes to the local area."
