Leader of the council, Cllr Patrick Harley launches a new asset prospectus-2

Dudley Council Leader Reacts to Wolverhampton’s Anchor Lane Decision

Cllr Patrick Harley, Leader of Dudley Council, has today shared his disappointment in the recent decision by Wolverhampton City Council to not reintroduce access for Dudley residents to its Anchor Lane Waste and Recycling facility.

After more than six months of discussions, Wolverhampton City Council has confirmed that, while it remains committed to collaborative working across authorities, they believe extending access to residents of Dudley borough would have an adverse impact on Wolverhampton residents. As a result, they are unable to reintroduce access to borough residents.

Commenting on the decision, Councillor Harley, said:

“I am bitterly disappointed that after many months, Wolverhampton has been unable to provide a positive outcome for our residents in the north of the borough.

“Use of the Anchor Lane facility for residents who live in the north of the borough would have been an effective solution for people wanting to dispose of household waste responsibly.

“Dudley will always put our residents first, but we also consider the needs of the residents of neighbouring authorities and if Wolverhampton Council need any assistance, we would view that positively.

“We hope that discussions can continue with Wolverhampton on how we can jointly support each other given we are such near neighbours
