Dudley Council mapping team recognised nationally for excellence

Dudley Council’s mapping team has scooped two prestigious industry awards in recognition of the outstanding quality of its work.

For the fifth year-running, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team and supporting colleagues in Network Management have received the Platinum Award for Address Data and for the fourth consecutive year the Platinum Award for Street Data at this year’s GeoPlace Exemplar Awards.

The two honours recognise their work in maintaining highly accurate land, property, street and address data. This high-quality data supports key services across the council, and its work with partner organisations, by helping to ensure important location-based information is accurate, reliable and up to date.

This data is crucial to the delivery of many council services and provides residents and businesses with reliable, accurate information.

It underpins essential public services, supports coordination across organisations, improves decision-making, reduces duplication and helps deliver services more efficiently.

Councillor Ed Lawrence, cabinet member for transformation, said:

“Congratulations to the team for once again being recognised at these prestigious industry awards. I’m delighted they have been recognised for the outstanding quality of their work.

“Although this work is largely unseen by residents, it plays an important role in the efficient delivery of many services and helps ensure the council and its partners are working from accurate and reliable information.

“This award reflects the professionalism and commitment of the teams involved.”
