Dudley Council shortlisted for two awards
A council team and senior member of staff have both been shortlisted in the regional Nachural Business Awards.
Dudley Council Chief Executive, Balvinder Heran has been shortlisted for Business Woman of the Year for her work with council leaders and senior colleagues on the development and implementation of a new operating model, designed to streamline services, reduce duplication, and maximise digital and technological efficiencies.
Under this plan, Dudley Council has removed the budget shortfall of £35 million and set a balanced five year budget within months through efficiency savings and cost reductions and has delivered a £16.6 million underspend for the 2024/25 financial year.
Meanwhile, the council’s Street Scene team has been shortlisted for the Community Excellence Award. The nomination is for two aspects of the team’s work – it’s assistance in helping volunteer Litter Busters to keep the borough clean, and work with Friends groups to drive improvements for parks, open spaces and churchyards.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:
“I’m not at all surprised to see our teams shortlisted for these awards. Our staff, at all levels, go above and beyond every day, and their number one priority is our residents.
“We’re all public servants and aim to do the best we can for our communities. I’m really pleased to see Balvinder and the Street Scene team recognised and I wish them all the best for the awards.”
