Dudley joins national highways network to share ideas and improve services

Dudley Council has joined the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG), a national body that brings organisations together to share ideas, learning opportunities and service improvements.

The LCRIG is a UK-wide community interest company that brings together local authorities, suppliers, government bodies and industry partners to improve local roads and highways services through innovation, collaboration and skills development. It provides opportunities for members to share best practice, access new technologies, engage with industry experts and work together to address challenges facing the highways sector. There is no cost for local authorities to be members.

As a member, the council will be able to take part in webinars, training opportunities, working groups and national events, helping officers learn from colleagues across the UK and bring back new ideas that could benefit local roads, infrastructure and communities.

Membership also provides access to specialist support, industry research and a network of highways professionals working on similar challenges.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for economy and infrastructure, said:

"We are delighted to join LCRIG and become part of a network that is committed to innovation, collaboration and excellence in the highways and infrastructure sector.

"Membership will provide valuable opportunities to share best practice, learn from industry leaders and work with partners to deliver improved outcomes for our residents and communities.

"We are always keen to improve our highways, and we know there is work to do to make the borough network stronger. By connecting with councils across the country, we can learn from what has worked elsewhere, share our own learning and experience and explore new approaches as we continue improving the services we provide for local people."

Joining LCRIG reflects the council's commitment to finding better ways of working, sharing knowledge with other authorities and ensuring local highways services continue to develop and improve.
