Volunteer walk leaders win community award

Dudley volunteer walk leaders recognised with community award

Volunteer walk leaders who help Dudley residents become more active have received an award recognising their contribution to communities across the borough.

The Ramblers Wellbeing Walks volunteers were named group winners of the Active Inspiration Award at the Dudley CVS AGM and Community Action Awards 2026.

The awards, held at Brierley Hill Civic, celebrated volunteers and community groups making a difference across Dudley borough.

The Active Inspiration Award recognises people and organisations that inspire their communities through physical activity, teamwork and sport, celebrating the positive impact this can have on health and wellbeing.

Ramblers Wellbeing Walks Dudley offers free, short group walks at locations across the borough. The walks support residents to become more active, spend time outdoors and meet other people in a friendly and welcoming setting.

The programme is coordinated by Dudley Council and supported by trained volunteer walk leaders, who give their time to lead walks and encourage residents to take part.

Park Active volunteers were also recognised as nominees in the Active Inspiration category.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said:

“Our volunteer walk leaders give their time to help people across Dudley borough become more active and enjoy walking with others.

“This award is well-deserved recognition of their enthusiasm and commitment. I’d like to congratulate the volunteers and thank them for everything they do to support local people and communities.

“I hope their success encourages even more residents to find out about the programme and join a local walk.”
