Christmas market

Enjoy a medieval Christmas in Dudley this December

Dudley Markets will be putting on a medieval air this December thanks to a joint event between Tudor Markets and Dudley Council.

The two-day event on 11 and 12 December will see Dudley’s regular market traders joined by a host of medieval themed entertainers.

Shoppers loading up on their Christmas veggies, toys, treats and stocking fillers will be entertained by battling knights in armour, juggling and fire-eating jesters and a medieval doctor complete with authentic remedies not to be tried at home.

The entertainment will run at various times over the two-day event with the chance to witness displays of knights in battle and also up-close demonstrations of weaponry and armour, medieval medicine and joking jesters.

Some additional traditional marker traders are expected to join the already well-established and popular regulars, but organisers are also planning to offer additional food stalls to get people into the festive spirit.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for enterprise and regeneration, said:

We’re really excited to be working with Tudor to provide this unique two-day event. It’s really important that we support our town centre businesses and traders and this Medieval spectacular should prove a real draw for shoppers and families.
We’ve made sure that entertainment varies every day so it’s definitely worth a repeat trip. We hope that people will support the event and the local businesses and traders who turn up week in, week out to provide such a valuable service to our communities.
