Event offers support for those facing loneliness

Dudley Council is organising two online events next week to help people who are struggling with loneliness to access local activities, community groups and support services.

The Stay Connected Wellbeing events will be held on Tuesday 29 June from 6 to 8pm and on Thursday 1 July from midday to 2pm.

Dudley Council is working with Integrated Plus, Dudley Mind and Just Straight Talk to host the events. It is open to anyone who is interested to find out what activities exist local to them and help boost their social connections.

Sessions are free of charge and will be held online through Zoom. They each last two hours but attendees are welcome to drop in and out as they wish.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:

Loneliness is not a new challenge but for many people it has been exacerbated by the covid-19 crisis.
The Dudley Social Connectedness Network is made up of partners from Dudley Council, voluntary and community sector and healthcare services who are committed to working together to make a difference for people who live in our borough.
I am sure these events will be useful for people who want to find out more about the wide range support service available to them and we are reaching to people to say help is at hand.
