Extra term time disability swimming sessions
The Crystal leisure centre is hosting new term time disability swimming sessions following the successful expansion of the project over the summer.
The centre introduced holiday sessions for disabled youngsters and their families over the summer break but was asked by service users if this could be expanded to include adults with disabilities. The move proved so popular over the summer that an additional session was added.
Now, following feedback from customers, the all age sessions will also be offered in the leisure pool during term time. It’s open to adults or children with disabilities and their whole family, rather than just being limited to one carer or family member.
Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:
The summer holiday sessions were really popular, and we listened to our service users who asked us to open the sessions up to adults with disabilities too.
These went down so well we’re now offering these term time sessions which we hope will be equally popular with adults and children with disabilities and their families.
Sessions will start on Thursday 7 October from 6pm – 8pm. This is a chargeable session and those attending will need to pay, however an Options+ discount is available for eligible people.
