February half term activities

Children can enjoy a range of activities taking place in Dudley borough this half term.

Duncan Edwards, Crystal and Halesowen leisure centres will be offering sessions including free swimming, family disability swims, soft play and pickleball. £1 football sessions are also on offer at The Dell Stadium. Full information is online at www.dbleisure.co.uk.

A mixture of bookable and walk-in sessions including making bunny headbands, 3D cats and dog finger puppets, Lego construction, rattle and rhyme, board games, film shows and story-times are taking place at Dudley libraries. More information is available online and @Dudley Libraries on Facebook.

Children of all ages will love the family pantomime performance of The Little Mermaid at Stourbridge Town Hall with performances running until 19 February. All Star Superslam Wrestling will also return to Dudley Town Hall on Saturday 22 February. Full details are listed at www.boroughhalls.co.uk

The Red House Glass Cone is offering fused glass sessions to create dinosaur themed pieces on Tuesday 18 February and spring sheep themed pieces on Thursday 20 Feb, both sessions are suitable for children aged seven and over and must be pre-booked. There will also be a family crafts session, suitable for children aged four and over, on Thursday 20 February. For more information people can visit the cone’s ticket source page.

Dudley Museum at the Archives will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 10am and 4pm, with interesting exhibitions and activities for families to enjoy. The museum, which offers free admission and parking, will also open for dinosaur craft sessions suitable for children aged four and over on Wednesday 19 February, with families asked to pre-book online

Park Active sessions will be taking place in selected Dudley borough parks. These 45-minute activities are led by a qualified volunteer and gives people of all fitness levels the opportunity to be active outdoors. Families can also enjoy using free outdoor gym equipment with more online about both activities.

Children can enjoy being active with the Junior Parkrun at Stevens Park in Wollescote, which will bookend the half term break. The activity runs at the park every Sunday starting at 9am. People can find out more and register online.

Councillor David Stanley, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“Our half term activities include a wide range of sessions including sport, free swimming, Lego, storytelling and crafting.

“As always we are reminding parents that the free swimming is very popular and spaces are on a first come first served basis.”

People who have not previously registered for free swimming must do so at www.freeswimindudley.co.uk in advance of their swim. Parents are asked to read full terms and conditions ahead of their visit.
