Festival weekend draws to a close
Thousands of revellers have turned out to enjoy a big weekend of live music, comedy, entertainment and football in the grounds of Himley Hall and Park.
People enjoyed the Musicom festivities, organised by Dudley Council as part of the Black Country festival.
On Saturday night, the park was rocking to the sounds of headline act, Symphonix Rock Orchestra, along with Oasis and Foo Fighters tributes.
And today (July 14), on the official Black Country Day, the park played host to top tribute acts on the main stage to stars such Tina Turner, Madness, Taylor Swift, Michael Bublé and Fleetwood Mac.
There was also live comedy and performances by local bands.
A live screening of the Spain vs England Euro 24 final brought the weekend to a close this evening with thousands staying to watch the match.
Councillor Phil Atkins, cabinet member for corporate strategy, said:
“Himley Hall and Park has once again provided the perfect backdrop for a dazzling weekend of live music, comedy, entertainment and football too.
“Although the football result didn’t go our way this evening and there were plenty of people leaving the park disappointed that England weren’t able to clinch that victory, I’m so pleased we were able to provide the live screening opportunity for everyone.
“Thanks to the thousands who turned out to enjoy the weekend, it’s been wonderful to see people of all ages, including lots of families too, enjoying the festivities and creating such a fantastic atmosphere.
“Thanks to all our live music and comedy acts too for bringing their A game and putting on such memorable performances. An England victory would have certainly been the icing on the cake, we’ll just have to wait a little longer for football to come home.”
The weekend has taken place this year thanks to a £365,000 grant from the Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund.
The Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund is administered by HM Government and the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
The Musicom event was sponsored by brsk, Halesowen College and Copthorne Hotel.
The live screening was sponsored by brsk, E Plan local heating installers and Black Country Festival.
