First direct debit prize draw winner
The first winner has been drawn for the council’s direct debit prize draw competition.
Residents who pay their council tax, business rates or council housing rent by direct debit are automatically entered into a monthly prize draw to win £100. The prize draw aims to encourage people to make their payments via direct debit, giving residents the peace of mind of knowing that their payment will be made automatically.
The first draw for the new council tax and business rates competition was held in April and included people who already pay by direct debit as well as new joiners. Mrs S of Halesowen was the first winner. The draw will continue each month.
Councillor Steve Clark, cabinet member for finance and legal services, said:
We wanted to make it as easy as possible for our tenants, residents and business owners to pay their bills with us. The prize draw has worked really well to incentivise people to pay by direct debit.
Setting up a direct debit allows people to budget, without having to go to any extra effort or expense. Once it’s set up you can just forget about it. And now you’re in with the chance of winning £100 each month.
Paying council tax, business rates or housing rent by direct debit is simple, efficient and free to set up. It gives people peace of mind knowing that they don’t have to arrange payment each month once the direct debit it set up.
