Composting webinar October 2023

Free composting tips on offer for Dudley residents

Green-fingered residents can learn more about composting and its benefits for their gardens as part of a free webinar later this month.

The free online tutorial will take place on Thursday 19 October from 6pm to 7pm.

Composting experts from Garden Organic, the national charity for organic growing, will share useful advice on composting and take questions from residents.

Participants will learn about the benefits of composting for both their gardens and the environment, how the composting process works, how to compost at home, what can go in a home compost bin, and the different types of bins available.

Places on the webinar can be booked by emailing waste.recycling@dudley.gov.uk. Spots are limited to 100 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

A confirmation email will be sent with a link to join the session. The free Zoom meeting software is required.

Councillor Dr Rob Clinton, cabinet member for climate change, said:

Composting is a great way to make the most of your green waste and certain types of leftover food. It creates a nourishing end product for your garden and reduces the amount of waste that goes to landfill.

Our experts have more than 60 years of experience of organic growing and composting between them, so this is a fantastic opportunity to get some free tips on how to do it effectively and cut your carbon footprint in the process.

The workshop coincides with National Recycle Week, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

To mark the occasion, residents who attend the webinar will be entered into a free prize draw to win a 330-litre Green Johanna hot composter worth £145 as donated by Great Green Systems. Terms and conditions are listed below.
