Free library summer holiday activities in Dudley

There are hundreds of free family activities available in Dudley Libraries this summer.

They include a wide range of craft sessions (badgemaking, hand printing, shoe box gardens, mouse finger puppets, glitter tattoos to name but a few), Nintendo Switch and Lego Spike, circus skills, workshops, gaming clubs, babytimes, storytimes, biscuit decorating and much, much more.

Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs 13 Dudley Libraries on behalf of the council.

“More than 750 activities have been planned and they’re all free to access,” said GLL Partnership Manager Stephanie Rhoden.

“We all know it can be a challenge to keep children entertained during the summer holidays, so we’ve organised a fun programme of events that will do just that.

“Booking is essential for some sessions so please check details with individual libraries or on our website and social media channels.”

The libraries involved are Stourbridge, Gornal, Dudley, Kingswinford, Lye, Brierley Hill, Netherton, Long Lane, Halesowen, Cradley, Sedgley, Coseley and Wordsley.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said:

“Our libraries offer events and activities all year round but really pull out the stops for the summer and the summer reading challenge. This year’s summer reading challenge theme is the natural world and there are hundreds of nature themed craft activities for youngsters of all ages.”
