Free PPE equipment to support social care workforce

Free PPE equipment is available to support social care providers across Dudley borough this winter as they continue their vital work to protect vulnerable residents during the coronavirus pandemic.

Dudley Council will be distributing free PPE on behalf of the Department for Health and Social Care department, which has committed to supporting providers in local areas across the country who are unable to apply for equipment via the government’s PPE portal.

Eligible providers could include community based mental health care services, personal assistants, direct payment recipients and non CQC (Care Quality Commission) registered providers.

PPE available includes masks, visors, hand gel, aprons and gloves.

The level of equipment available will depend on the type of services offered and the level of personal care required.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:

Care providers in this borough are the backbone of the community, providing essential care and support to some of our most vulnerable residents.
As the winter months approach, it’s vital we support them as they go about their daily duties. This PPE equipment will help keep both staff and residents safe and reduce the risk of the virus spreading. I’d urge anyone who thinks they may be eligible to get in touch as soon as possible.
