Free swimming returns this weekend
Free swimming will make a popular return this weekend and throughout the Christmas holidays at borough leisure centres.
The free sessions will be available at Dudley Council-run Crystal and Dudley leisure centres for Dudley borough residents aged 16 and under from Saturday 18 December 2021 to Monday 3 January 2022 (excluding Christmas closures).
People need to register in advance online if they have not previously registered at www.freeswimindudley.co.uk
Numbers will be limited, so entry will be on a first come first served basis.
For details of pool opening times, people can go to https://www.dudley.gov.uk/sport
Crystal leisure centre will also be offering a family fun disability session on Friday 31 December from 2pm to 4pm.
The session is for people with disabilities, special educational needs, ASD and their families.
This is not a coached session and children under the age of eight must be accompanied in and out of the water by a responsible person aged at least 16 years old. Free swimming is available during this session for eligible children.
Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:
It’s great to see free swimming return once again to our leisure centres.
It gives families the opportunity to be active together and to take a break from the festivities if they are celebrating.
The free sessions are always popular and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you have not previously registered, please sign up via the free-swimming website before arriving.
The leisure centres will be closed on Friday 24, Saturday 25, Sunday 26 December 2021 and Saturday 1 January 2022.
