Mayor of Dudley at Dudley Market Halloween event

Frightfully fun day for Mayor at Dudley Market

The Mayor of Dudley enjoyed some hair-raising Halloween fun at Dudley’s historic open-air market yesterday afternoon.

Councillor Andrea Goddard paid a visit to Dudley Market during the venue’s Monster Wednesday event.

The borough’s first citizen met traders and chatted with parents and youngsters taking part in the spooky celebrations on her trip to the market.

Face painting, hair braiding, balloon art and lucky dips were all on offer at the event, which attracted plenty of families despite some occasional wet weather.

Staff from Dudley Library also came along to teach nursery rhymes, while local group The Reggae Boyz Featuring Michelle brightened up the day with some ska classics.

Councillor Andrea Goddard, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

It was a pleasure to visit Dudley Market and experience one of their popular family fun days. It was obvious how much work had been put into organising the event with lots of Halloween-themed activities to entertain the little ones during half term.

Even the rain couldn’t dampen the atmosphere and I was thrilled to see the market busy and thriving. It’s such an important part of the town centre and we’re very keen to support its growth.

Scott Simpson, general manager of Tudor Markets, said:

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Dudley to our Monster Wednesday event at Dudley Market. Our traders really appreciated her taking the time to meet and chat with them.

Fun days like this are some of the highlights of our calendar and it was great to see so many people getting involved. We’d like to thank everyone who came along and made the event possible.

Monster Wednesday was supported by Dudley Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which is funded by the UK Government.

Dudley Market is open six days a week from 9am to 3pm and offers a variety of goods including fruit and vegetables, clothing, technology, books and more.
