Get tested for even the mildest symptoms
A Dudley health boss is urging residents to get a covid test even when they are displaying the mildest symptoms not typically thought of as covid.
With the Delta variant now the dominant variant in the country, it’s more important than ever that people understand the symptoms and get an appropriate test.
The variant is known to cause cold-like symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or headache.
These differ to the typical covid symptoms of a fever, cough and loss or change in sense of taste and smell.
Anyone with any of these symptoms, however mild, or feeling not quite right should book a standard PCR covid test (used for those displaying symptoms).
People who are completely symptom free, should take twice weekly symptom free tests (lateral flow) to help trace undetected cases of the variant.
Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said:
We know the Delta variant is more transmissible so it’s vital we remember hands, face, space and fresh air.
What may be a mild illness for one resident, could be really serious for someone else.
So, we need to continue to proceed with caution, follow the guidelines, get the right test when we need it and importantly have the vaccine.
Please play your part – protect Dudley borough.
