HAF video uncovers a summer of fun

Parents can get a taste for summer holiday activities available as part of the Holiday Activities Programme with a new promotional video.

People can see the new video for HAF, featuring some of the great activities on offer this summer, at www.holidayactivitiesindudley.com

Running from 21 July to 3 September, it forms part of Dudley Council’s Child Friendly Borough programme and is open to children aged five to 16 who are eligible for benefits related free school meals.

More than more than 1,000 sessions will take place in locations across the borough including sport, go karting, drama, dance, music, play, circus skills, science, discos, cooking, yoga, outdoor pursuits, craft and much more.

Several days out are planned at Dudley Canal Trust, Dudley Zoo and Castle, Laser Quest Stourbridge, Brockswood Animal Sanctuary and the Black Country Living Museum.

Special activities for eligible children with SEND are also on offer with activities such as pottery, cartoon club, water play, forest school and stay and plays taking place.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children’s services and education, said:

We are working towards being a Child Friendly borough, where all children are given the best opportunities to learn and play.
The summer holidays can offer children a fantastic opportunity to try new things and have fun playing with peers, but we know this time can also be challenging for some families.
That’s why we are so proud to be supporting the HAF programme once again, with a huge range of things to see, do and try this summer.
Ben Arrowsmith, HAF coordinator at Dudley CVS, said:

Here at Dudley CVS, we are delighted to be bringing HAF to Dudley again this summer. The HAF programme creates the opportunity for children and families to engage with activities across the borough throughout the summer holidays.
Summer HAF-23 is already turning out to be our most popular delivery yet, with a range of different activities on offer. HAF plays a vital role in connecting families to a wider network of support and community through our local offer.
With so many exciting activities to choose from, we would encourage eligible families to register and start creating fun and lasting memories this summer.
Children must live in Dudley borough or attend a school in the borough to take advantage of the scheme and parents will need to have registered their child.
