It’s gold…for the 21st time
A housing team has secured its 21st consecutive gold award in the coveted national RoSPA awards.
Dudley Council’s housing maintenance team has been handed an Order of Distinction for achieving its 21st award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The awards recognise the team’s continued high standards in maintaining staff and tenant safety.
The workforce includes office-based staff along with more than 270 trade operatives with a variety of craft skills including plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, roofers, carpenters, plasterers, gas operatives and carpenters.
Annually housing maintenance undertakes more than 130,000 individual projects. These range from day-to-day repairs, both in and out of hours, property compliance regulatory inspections and servicing and void property refurbishments across the council's housing stock.
The RoSPA award recognised areas of work including safety briefings and covid risk assessments.
Balvinder Heran, deputy chief executive at Dudley Council, said:
This is another fantastic result for the team. It cements what we already know – that our standards remain consistently high and staff and tenants’ safety continue to be a priority.
Thanks to everyone in the housing maintenance team for their continued efforts and to RoSPA for this recognition once again.
The RoSPA awards celebrate high standards in health and safety performance in the workplace.
