Your Borough Your Future

Just days to go to complete climate change survey

People only have until Friday (November 18) to complete a climate change survey and comment on how they and the council can reduce their impact on the planet.

The Your Borough, Your Future survey launched last month asking for residents’ views on how they and the council can work together to tackle climate change.

There’s still time for people to comment on what they think the council should be doing and what they, as individuals, would consider doing to prepare for the challenges faced today and into the future.

The survey explores people’s views on their priorities and where they feel changes can be made to council services to reduce the carbon impact, such as improving recycling services in a cost-effective way, reducing the amount of waste that goes into the incinerator and exploring the use of alternative fuels for vehicles.

It also asks what changes to daily life residents are willing to make.

A YouTube video showing people how they can make a difference locally and globally is available on the council’s YouTube channel.

There’s also a chance for children to take part in a couple of fun quizzes on climate change and recycling.

Councillor Rob Clinton, cabinet member responsible for climate change said:

We’ve taken the survey into our town centres and into local schools and spoken to hundreds of people about the importance of acting now to help protect the planet.
With just a few days to go until the survey closes, I would urge people to take a few minutes to complete the survey and have their say on how we can all work together to reduce the impact of climate change.

The survey can be completed online.

Paper copies of the survey will be available on request in libraries across the borough. People are to return the paper copies to the library and they will be collected.

Parents and carers can help their local primary school win a hot composter by taking part in the survey. The primary school which completes the most surveys will win the hot composter.
