Last few days to comment on budget plans
There are just a few days left for residents to have their say on a range of investments and savings at Dudley Council – with 1,400 people already shared their views.
The council is currently consulting people on the budget proposals.
There are planned investments in parks, CCTV, town centre parking and many more services across the borough.
The council also needs to balance the books to continue funding essential services amid rising energy prices and costs.
Residents will continue to have some of the lowest council tax bills in the country despite a planned 4.99 per cent increase in council tax. Two per cent of that will go to services for older and more vulnerable people.
Since December, the council has been asking residents how it should spend money in an online consultation. A total 1,444 people have completed it.
Councillor Steve Clark, deputy leader of the council and cabinet member for finance, said:
There has been a great response to the consultation so far. People have been telling us what they think of the budget proposals and prioritising which services are important to them. It’s also important we provide value for money which is why residents of this borough will continue to pay some of the lowest council tax bills in the county, despite a planned increase in council tax. It’s about doing what we have to do but being fair to people at the same time. “People have just a few days left to have their say and I’d encourage people to do that.

Closing date is February 10. A decision will be made by the full council in March.
