Leader calls on residents to back local footballing heroes and England ahead of semi final

The leader of Dudley Council is calling on residents to show their support for local stars Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers and the team ahead of England’s semi-final match tomorrow.

The team faces Argentina with a kick off time of 8pm (GMT), in a bid to reach Sunday’s World Cup final.

Dudley town centre is awash with celebratory bunting ahead of the big event, with iconic Black Country Flags also on display in the town to celebrate today's Black Country Day (14 July).

Yesterday Dudley Council announced local football heroes Jude and Morgan were being offered its Freedom of the Borough honours list.

Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:

"We are incredibly proud of our local heroes Jude and Morgan.

“They are fantastic role models who show what can be achieved through hard work and determination.

“As England takes to the pitch for the semi-final, I’d encourage residents to get behind them and the whole team.

“We’ll be flying the flag and cheering them on every step of the way and on behalf of the borough wish them the very best of luck tomorrow.”
