Leisure centres to re-open for gym sessions and lane swimming
Dudley and Halesowen leisure centres will re-open for gym sessions and lane swimming on Monday (Apr 12) as part of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge will also re-open for gym sessions on Monday. But the 25-metre and leisure pools will remain closed due to the ongoing refurbishment of the changing rooms at the Bell Street site.
One activity session per day can be booked. Sessions must be pre-booked in advance. Members can book online and non-members over the phone.
The Dell Stadium has now re-opened for football and use of the running track and Coseley Sport Centre is now open for outdoor football only. Restrictions apply at both facilities.
Council bosses are offering new members who sign up between April 12 and May 14 inclusive the chance to get up to six weeks free use of the facilities when subscribing to the monthly direct debit scheme. The first payment for membership will not be taken until June 1.
Social distancing and hygiene measures will remain in place. All customers will be required to wear face masks whilst in the facilities and when not participating in exercise or seated in the café.
Stuart Connelly, head of culture, leisure and bereavement, said:
We are very pleased to be able to partially re-open our leisure centres.
The link between physical activity and improved mental health is well documented and we look forward to welcoming people back for gym and lane swimming sessions in a safe environment.
