Let’s recycle this Christmas
Dudley borough residents are receiving details of this year’s Christmas waste and recycling collections through their letterboxes.
Households will have altered collections between Saturday 19 December and Friday 1 January. Flyers detailing the changes are being delivered to all borough homes.
Details of the altered collections are also available at www.dudley.gov.uk by searching Christmas waste collections, or by contacting Dudley Council Plus.
Waste and recycling should be placed outside for collection by 6.15am and residents are advised that Christmas collections may be earlier or later than usual.
Residents are asked to ensure that their grey bin lid is shut and to not put out additional waste sacks.
Additional free recycling blue or green bags and black boxes are available by visiting www.dudleyrecycles.org.uk or telephoning Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345.
Additional bulky waste can be collected via the council’s chargeable bulky waste collection service.
The household waste and recycling centres, located in Stourbridge and Coseley, recycle many items including Christmas trees and unwanted electrical goods. Both sites are only closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Anyone wishing to use the Stourbridge site should book online or call Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345 as appointments need to be booked before visiting the site.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for public realm, said:
I would like to take this opportunity to say a great big thank you to our waste operatives for the hard work they have put in during this pandemic. They are the unsung heroes, removing our waste and recycling and helping to keep our borough clean.
Despite the difficult times our crews have made every effort to ensure that our service has continued with as little disruption to residents as possible.
People can help us to slow the spread of the virus this winter by remembering to clean recycling containers and bins and by washing hands thoroughly both before and after collections.
